 Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I know which massage treatment is right for me?

If you’re unsure which treatment will suit you best, simply book a massage session for your preferred duration, and we’ll decide together on the day. I’ll take time to understand your needs and recommend the most effective therapy for you.

2. Can I decide which treatment I want on the day of my appointment?

Yes. You only need to choose the length of the session (e.g. 60, 90) when booking. On the day, we’ll discuss your goals—whether pain relief, relaxation, or improved mobility—and select the right massage for you.

3. Do you offer pregnancy massage, and from which week of pregnancy is it safe?

Yes. Pregnancy massage is safe and beneficial from the second trimester (after 12 weeks). It helps reduce back pain, swelling, and stress, while promoting relaxation and better sleep.

4. What should I expect during my first session?

Your session begins with a short consultation to discuss your health, lifestyle, and treatment goals. This ensures your massage is safe, comfortable, and fully tailored to your needs.

5. Do I need to bring or wear anything special for my appointment?

You don’t need to bring anything. Towels are provided. Body butters I’m using are skin-friendly.

6. Are there any conditions that mean I shouldn’t have a massage?

Yes. Certain conditions may require postponing treatment, such as fever, severe skin infections, or recent surgery. Some therapies, like Buccal Massage or Manual Lymphatic Drainage, have specific restrictions. If you’re unsure, please contact me before booking.

8. Is massage safe if I have an injury or medical condition?

Massage can often help with recovery, but it depends on your condition. For example, remedial massage and myofascial release can support healing, while pregnancy or post-surgical clients may need adapted techniques. Always consult your GP if you’re unsure.

9. Do you use natural and skin-friendly oils?

Yes. I use carefully selected, certified body butters—many sourced from trusted local businesses—to ensure they are safe, nourishing, and gentle on your skin.

10. What measures are taken for hygiene and client safety?

All equipment, towels, and treatment areas are cleaned thoroughly between clients. I also follow professional hygiene standards to ensure a safe and comfortable experience.

11. How long are the sessions, and which durations are available?

Massage sessions are available in 30, 60, or 90 minutes. Some treatments, such as Manual Lymphatic Drainage, are only available in 60 or 90 minutes. Buccal Massage 60min, Signature Massage is only available in 90 min.

12. What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?

I kindly ask for at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Please note changes or cancellations after that time won’t be possible and you will be charged the full amount.

13. Do you accept same-day bookings?

Yes, subject to availability. It’s always best to book in advance to secure your preferred time.

14. Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes. Gift vouchers are available and make a thoughtful present for birthdays, anniversaries, or simply to treat someone you care about. Please message me at: marta@massagetherapy.london to order your voucher.

20. Will I have the same therapist for each session?

Yes. I personally provide all treatments, ensuring consistency and a deep understanding of your needs over time.

21. Can I request specific focus areas, like back, shoulders, or legs?

Of course. Every massage is customised—whether you’d like a full-body treatment or targeted work on certain areas.

22. Do you combine massage with other therapies?

Yes. Treatments can be integrated with nutritional therapy, posture correction, mobility training, and distress techniques for a holistic approach to health. Check Packages for more information.

23. How soon will I feel results, and how often should I come for treatment?

Many clients feel better after just one session, but for lasting results regular treatments are recommended. Together, we’ll create a plan tailored to you.

24. Can I have a massage if I’m recovering from surgery or experiencing swelling?

Yes—with the right technique. Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is especially effective for post-surgical swelling and recovery. Always consult your GP if unsure.
